Baseball Game Preview: Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights vs. Leo Lions

The Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights will head out to challenge the Leo Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Fort Wayne Bishop Luers has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Leo will arrive with three straight wins.

Fort Wayne Bishop Luers had taken Fort Wayne Snider down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Knights lost 9-3 to the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered against the Panthers since April 26, 2022.

Fort Wayne Bishop Luers saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxson Hill, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Leo got the win against Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian on Saturday by a conclusive 16-3. Considering the Lions have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Alex Robison and Nolan Butcher did most of the damage at the plate: Robison went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Butcher went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those four hits gave Butcher a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Howie Pooler, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs.

Leo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian only posted an OBP of .417.

Leo pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Fort Wayne Bishop Luers might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Leo in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
