Volleyball Recap: Douglas County West Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Douglas County West had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Conestoga Cougars on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Falcon also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Douglas County West had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-23.

Abby Rayer went supernova, getting 19 digs and three assists. Those three assists gave her a new career-high.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Douglas County West will head out to challenge Lincoln Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Conestoga, they will venture away from home to face off against Weeping Water at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
