Basketball Recap: Ridgway Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Ridgway hadn't done well against Mancos recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Ridgway Demons walked away with a 50-38 win over the Mancos Bluejays. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 36-33 two weeks ago.

Ridgway got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maddie Miller out in front who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 14 boards. Miller is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 12 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emery Cornell, who went 6-for-8 on her way to 14 points.

Ridgway was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mancos only posted three assists.

Despite the defeat, Mancos saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tinsley Aspromonte posted 22 points and eight rebounds.

Ridgway's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points over those games. As for Mancos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-12.

Ridgway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-18 victory against Ouray on the 18th. As for Mancos, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 58-34 loss against Dove Creek on the 18th.
