Basketball Recap: Josiah Wilson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Justin Garza over Central Valley Christian

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Justin Garza couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 58-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Valley Christian Cavaliers on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-57 back in December of 2024.

Justin Garza's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Wilson, who posted 13 points and three steals. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Luke Poulsen was another key player, putting up ten points.

Caden Lloyd was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 16 rebounds for Central Valley Christian. Lloyd has become a key player for Central Valley Christian: the team is 18-5 when he posts at least ten boards, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Grant Hyde, who went 5-for-8 en route to 17 points.

Justin Garza's loss dropped their record down to 22-8. As for Central Valley Christian, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-9.

Justin Garza does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Central Valley Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-48 defeat against Righetti on the 21st.
