Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Fairview

Fairview posted their closest win since December 20, 2025 on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 35-33 victory over the Point Pleasant Big Blacks. The win was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 224th in Kentucky, while the Big Blacks are ranked 100th in West Virginia).

Point Pleasant lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mackenzie Weikle, who posted five points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lola Tolliver, who earned ten points.

Fairview's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10. As for Point Pleasant, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Fairview has already played their next contest (against Boyd County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Point Pleasant, they will face off against Nitro at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Big Blacks' defense better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 64.9 points per game this season.
