Softball Recap: Saluda Beats Andrew Jackson for Their 15th Straight Win

Saluda entered their tilt with Andrew Jackson on Wednesday with 14 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 15. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Volunteers an 8-0 shutout. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Miller Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jayme Sheaffer and Nyla Jordan did most of the damage at the plate: Sheaffer scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Jordan scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, Sheaffer posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February.

Saluda pushed their record up to 15-3-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Andrew Jackson, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
