Preview: Robinson Bulldogs vs. Northwest Cabarrus Trojans

Robinson is 0-10 against Northwest Cabarrus since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Robinson Bulldogs will be home for the holidays to greet the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Robinson had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They breezed by East Rowan at home to the tune of 68-31. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-15.

Robinson's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Camri Hobbs, who scored 23 points, and Ella Hobbs, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Hobbs has scored at least 25% of Robinson's points. Li'Ara Batts was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Northwest Cabarrus at home against Lake Norman Charter last Friday as the team secured a 53-9 win. Given Northwest Cabarrus' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Lake Norman Charter is ranked 438th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Robinson's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Northwest Cabarrus, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Robinson might still be hurting after the 63-40 loss they got from Northwest Cabarrus when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Robinson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
