Baseball Game Preview: Lamar Raiders vs. Leake Academy Rebels

For the second straight game, Lamar will face off against Leake Academy. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lamar is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.

Lamar will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Leake Academy on Thursday. The Raiders blew past the Rebels 11-1. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jackson Whitcomb was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Whitcomb was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ty Wiggins was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sullivan Reed, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Leake Academy's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Lamar, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That lines up perfectly with their 17-5-2 record this season.
