Softball Game Preview: Buckeye Central Bucks vs. Plymouth Big Red

Buckeye Central hasn't had much luck against Plymouth recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bucks will take on the Big Red at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Buckeye Central has five straight victories, Plymouth has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Buckeye Central had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Vanlue on Thursday. The Bucks put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 17-3 win. The Bucks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Plymouth's offense. They came up short against St. Paul on Wednesday, falling 10-0. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Plymouth saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Presley Martin, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.

Buckeye Central pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Plymouth, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Buckeye Central suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Plymouth in their previous meeting back in May of 2019. Can the Bucks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
