Volleyball Recap: Pleasant Grove Wins High-Profile Contest Against Maple Mountain

Pleasant Grove faced Maple Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Vikings came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in September.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-23, 22-25, 25-16.

Leading Pleasant Grove to victory were Kaitlin Stadler and Dixie Werner. Stadler had 14 digs and five assists, while Werner had eight digs and three aces. That's the most assists Stadler has posted since back in August.

They weren't the only good servers: Pleasant Grove was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in five consecutive matchups.

Pleasant Grove has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Maple Mountain, their loss ended a nine-match streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-6.

Pleasant Grove didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Payson on the 7th. As for Maple Mountain, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Timpview on the 7th.
