Basketball Recap: Monte Vista Comes Up Short

Monte Vista lost against Mount Miguel two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Monte Vista Monarchs took an 86-82 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mount Miguel Matadors. The Monarchs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mount Miguel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trae Williams led the charge by dropping a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Williams a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamell Willey, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards.

Monte Vista's record is now 13-11. As for Mount Miguel, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season.

Monte Vista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-64 win against El Capitan on the 4th. Mount Miguel has also already played their next match, a 48-45 defeat against Steele Canyon on the 4th.
