Basketball Game Preview: Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones vs. Tennessee Vikings

Elizabethton is 1-6 against Tennessee since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones will venture away from home to face off against the Tennessee Vikings at 8:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Elizabethton fought the good fight in their overtime match against David Crockett on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 75-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers.

Meanwhile, Tennessee came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Patriots, posting a 77-28 victory. The game marked the Vikings' most dominant win of the season.

Tennessee's victory bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Elizabethton, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.

Elizabethton was taken down by Tennessee 73-41 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Elizabethton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
