Softball Game Preview: Jay County Patriots vs. Fort Recovery Indians

The Jay County Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Fort Recovery Indians at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Jay County's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.

Last Thursday, Jay County got the win against Delta by a conclusive 16-3. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Carley Trinidad made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Trinidad was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jay County let Jozey Shimp and Hallie Schwieterman run wild. Shimp scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Schwieterman went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. What's more, Shimp posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Missicano, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Fort Recovery was able to grind out a solid victory over Fort Loramie on Friday, taking the game 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

Jay County's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. As for Fort Recovery, their record is now 7-1.

Everything went Jay County's way against Fort Recovery in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Jay County made off with a 13-7 victory. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
