Baseball Recap: Pike Road Triumphs

Pike Road's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Smiths Station Panthers. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Pike Road got a great performance from Hudson Franks as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those nine strikeouts gave Franks a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Pike Road saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Morton, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Morton has posted since back in April of 2024.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Smiths Station, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Coming up, Pike Road will square off against Calvary Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Smiths Station, they will face off against Chelsea at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
