Basketball Recap: Brenham Cubs vs. College Station Cougars
Brenham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the College Station Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 628th, while the Cougars are ranked 164th).

Antyianna Lang and Janiyah Mathis certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Lang dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards, while Mathis dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. That's the most rebounds Mathis has posted since back in November of 2024. J'Tayla Moore was another key player, putting up four points and seven rebounds.
Brenham's loss dropped their record down to 11-16. As for College Station, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-8.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Montgomery the next time they take the court. College Station will host Montgomery at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Brenham will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on January 21st.
