Basketball Recap: Chaparral Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Chaparral had won two straight games and Daniel Marrufo did his part to make it three on Friday. The Chaparral Lobos came out on top in a nail-biter against the Santa Teresa Desert Warriors, sneaking past 58-56 thanks in part to Marrufo, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds. Marrufo is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Miguel Estrada was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to five assists and three steals. He is becoming a predictor of Chaparral's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is undefeated (and 5-14 when he doesn't).

Santa Teresa's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Josiah Rodriguez, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 12 points and eight boards, and Adrian Luna, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ulysses Montes, who scored seven points.

Chaparral's record now sits at 8-14. As for Santa Teresa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-13.

Chaparral has already played their next match, a 70-56 loss against Silver on the 11th. As for Santa Teresa, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-49 defeat against Deming on the 11th.
