Preview: Loyd Star Hornets vs. Amite County Trojans
The Loyd Star Hornets will head out on the road to take on the Amite County Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Loyd Star has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Loyd Star gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They breezed by West Lincoln on the road to the tune of 68-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Loyd Star has posted against West Lincoln since January 22, 2021.
Loyd Star's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colby Terrell, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Terrell hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Nathan Mills was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Amite County beat West Lincoln 49-45 on Thursday.
Loyd Star's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Amite County, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13.
Loyd Star didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Amite County when the teams last played on January 9th, but they still walked away with a 62-58 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Loyd Star since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
