Recap: Crestwood Knights vs. Marlboro County Bulldogs
The Crestwood Knights scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Marlboro County at home to the tune of 71-29. The win was nothing new for Crestwood as they're now sitting on four straight.
Saniya Williams was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Crestwood's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Javiah Martin, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Marlboro County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordyn Zimmerman, who scored eight points along with three steals. Ivanna Davis was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
Marlboro County struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Crestwood posted 14 assists.
Crestwood pushed their record up to 11-7 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Marlboro County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crestwood will take on Darlington at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (Darlington is ranked 74th, while Crestwood is ranked 68th). As for Marlboro County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Marlboro County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
