Preview: Hilliard Red Flashes vs. Fernandina Beach Pirates

Hilliard is on a ten-game streak of home wins, while Fernandina Beach is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Hilliard Red Flashes will take on the Fernandina Beach Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hilliard knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Fernandina Beach likes a good challenge.

Hilliard put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They really took it to Fort White for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-43 win at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Hilliard has posted against Fort White since December 19, 2019.

CJ Hall continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Malcom Warthen was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Fernandina Beach didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Yulee on Friday, but they still walked away with a 55-49 victory.

Hilliard has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. As for Fernandina Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.

Hilliard was able to grind out a solid victory over Fernandina Beach when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 49-41. Does Hilliard have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fernandina Beach turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
