Preview: Austin Mustangs vs. Milby Buffs
Austin has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Milby Buffs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
Last Tuesday, Austin was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 39-35 to Houston Math Science & Tech.
Meanwhile, Milby beat Sharpstown 32-20 on Saturday. The win was just what Milby needed coming off of a 48-24 defeat in their prior contest.
Milby found their leader in underclassman Ke'lia Smith, who dropped a double-double on ten rebounds and ten steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gyanna Guerra, who scored eight points.
Austin's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5. As for Milby, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.
Austin took a serious blow against Milby when the teams last played back in February, falling 45-17. Thankfully for Austin, Lauryn Williams (who scored 20 points along with nine steals and eight rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
