Softball Recap: Moore Haven Victorious

Moore Haven lost to Immokalee back in February of 2017, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Moore Haven came out on top against Immokalee by a score of 9-5.

Preslynn Baker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Truley Osceola, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Khloe Desroche was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

Moore Haven hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Immokalee struck out 11 times.

Moore Haven's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Immokalee, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Moore Haven and Immokalee should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Moore Haven (ranked 126th) will meet East Lee County (ranked 521st) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Moore Haven's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while East Lee County has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Immokalee will square off against Dunbar at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday up 283 places (240 vs. 523).
