Basketball Recap: GREEN Upstate Takes a Loss

After flying high against Whitmire last Thursday, GREEN Upstate came back down to earth. The GREEN Upstate Owls came up short against the Abbeville Panthers on Monday, falling 80-58. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Panthers are ranked 101st).

Jaden Baylor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Abbeville, going 9 of 13 on his way to 21 points along with seven boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Corde Hadden, who made all 6 shots he took to post 16 points and three steals.

GREEN Upstate has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Abbeville, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Thornwell the next time they take the court. GREEN Upstate will head out to face Thornwell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Abbeville will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
