Basketball Game Preview: Sarasota Sailors vs. Windermere Wolverines

After both having extra time off, the Sarasota Sailors and the Windermere Wolverines will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sarasota comes in on 18 and Windermere on six.

Sarasota is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup two weeks ago. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Osceola, sneaking past 64-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sailors have posted since November 22, 2024.

Sarasota's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was John Lackaff, who went 7-for-15 to rack up 19 points and four steals. Lackaff's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. David Young was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Windermere faced Oak Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams two weeks ago. Windermere managed a 62-58 victory over Oak Ridge.

Sarasota's win bumped their record up to 28-2. As for Windermere, their victory bumped their record up to 25-5.
