Basketball Recap: Sayre Comes Up Short

Sayre was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Northeast Bradford Panthers and fell 56-20. The Redskins were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-8.

When it comes to explaining why Sayre lost, don't look at Abbie McGaughey. Despite the final result, she went 7 of 17 to rack up 14 points and five boards. That was a full 70% of Sayre's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Sayre's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Northeast Bradford, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Coming up, Sayre will face off against North Penn-Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Northeast Bradford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
