Baseball Game Preview: D'Iberville Warriors vs. St. Martin Yellow Jackets

The D'Iberville Warriors will challenge the St. Martin Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

D'Iberville took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top against Ocean Springs by a score of 5-2.

Corbin Smith looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jaylen Johnson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. D'Iberville is 2-1 when Johnson posts two or more stolen bases, but 8-14 otherwise. Carter Naron was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

D'Iberville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ocean Springs only posted a batting average of .250.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Martin). They put the hurt on Biloxi with a sharp 13-4 win on Saturday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

D'Iberville's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-15. As for St. Martin, the win got them back to even at 12-12.
