Basketball Game Preview: Leadore Mustangs vs. Lima Bears + How To Watch

The Leadore Mustangs will take on the Lima Bears in a holiday battle at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Leadore is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Mackay on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Mustangs were outmatched by the Miners and fell 53-23. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Miners recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite their loss, Leadore saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Porter Mayo, who posted six points, was perhaps the best of all. Mayo is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Dane Piippo was another key player, putting up four points along with six boards and four blocks.

Meanwhile, Lima gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with a 62-53 victory over Clark County. The Bears pushed the score to 51-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bobcats cut but never quite recovered from.

Leadore's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Lima, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.

Leadore suffered a grim 64-44 defeat to Lima in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Mustangs were down 42-20.
