Baseball Recap: St. John Lutheran Comes Up Short

If St. John Lutheran was riding high fresh off their 19-4 takedown of Ocala Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The St. John Lutheran Saints came up short against the Lake Mary Prep Griffins on Friday, falling 7-1. The Saints have struggled against the Griffins recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Adam Stillwell put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stillwell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Christian Bessoni made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

St. John Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Lake Mary Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Looking ahead, St. John Lutheran will take on Hilliard at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. St. John Lutheran is facing Hilliard at the right time seeing as Hilliard is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Lake Mary Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crooms Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crooms Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
