Baseball Game Preview: Fountain Valley Barons vs. Mater Dei Monarchs

The Fountain Valley Barons are taking a road trip to square off against the Mater Dei Monarchs at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fountain Valley 3.5, Mater Dei 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Fountain Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Torrance. The win was nothing new for the Barons as they're now sitting on three straight.

Logan Hunt tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Fountain Valley saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Grack, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs Grack has posted since back in April.

Fountain Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Mater Dei owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Foothill. The Monarchs haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Fountain Valley's record is now 18-13. As for Mater Dei, their record now sits at an identical 18-13.
