Baseball Game Preview: Fountain Inn Fury vs. Daniel Lions

The Fountain Inn Fury are taking a road trip to square off against the Daniel Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Daniel will be up against a hot Fountain Inn team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Fountain Inn was the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Blue Ridge on Saturday. The Fury's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Collin Wilson looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Fountain Inn got a massive performance out of Joel Irizarry, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Irizarry a new career-high in hits. Mason Guion was another key player, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3.

Fountain Inn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Daniel made sure to put some runs up on the board against Woodmont on Friday. Everything went Daniel's way against Woodmont as Daniel made off with a 10-2 victory. The win was just business as usual for the Lions, who after six games remain undefeated this season.

Daniel pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Fountain Inn, their record now sits at 6-1-1.

Fountain Inn couldn't quite get it done against Daniel in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can Fountain Inn avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
