Softball Recap: Minersville Comes Up Short

After flying high against Nativity BVM last Thursday, Minersville came back down to earth. Minersville fell 10-7 to the Selinsgrove Seals on Saturday. The Battlin' Miners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Seals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Sara McGrath and Payton Frantz stepped up to the plate in a big way. McGrath scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Frantz scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Frantz a new career-high. Rilynn Brennan also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Minersville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Selinsgrove, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minersville will face off against Schuylkill Haven at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Selinsgrove, they will take on Jersey Shore at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
