West is 1-9 against Foothill since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Vikings will host the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. West has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
West couldn't beat South on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Vikings came up short against the Spartans, falling 17-4.
West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charles Magallanes, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Erick Atkinson was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foothill). They were the clear victors by a 25-2 margin over Mira Monte on Thursday. With that win, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.
Joaquin Carrillo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Carrillo was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Carlos Ruano was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Conrado Machuca, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
West's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Foothill, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
