Softball Game Preview: Waubonsie Valley Warriors vs. Metea Valley Mustangs

The Waubonsie Valley Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Metea Valley Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Waubonsie Valley and seven for Metea Valley.

On Friday, Waubonsie Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Plainfield Central and fell 2-1.

Sammy Wiertelak put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Wiertelak wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aislee Morgan, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Metea Valley came up short against Aurora Central Catholic on Saturday and fell 8-3.

Waubonsie Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Metea Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.

Waubonsie Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Metea Valley in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
