Baseball Recap: Vincennes Rivet's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Vincennes Rivet had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Dugger Union Bulldogs. This was payback for the Patriots, who suffered a 5-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Bracey Morron and Hunter Bilskie were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Morron pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Bilskie tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Morron went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Bilskie went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most hits Morron has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miles Gardner, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker Lane, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Vincennes Rivet hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.

Vincennes Rivet's record is now 14-5. As for Dugger Union, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13-1.

Looking ahead, Vincennes Rivet will square off against North Central at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Dugger Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
