Basketball Game Preview: Western Panthers vs. Peru Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers face off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Western is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Western came up short against Oak Hill and fell 64-51.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Sam Thurston, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 15 points and six boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in February of 2024. Carter Biggs was another key player, going 8-for-17 en route to 20 points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Peru lost a heartbreaker to Manchester when they met back in February of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Peru lost to Manchester on the road by a 71-53 margin. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Squires are ranked 47th).

Peru's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Western, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
