Softball Game Preview: Prairie Central Hawks vs. Lexington Minutemen

The Prairie Central Hawks will venture away from home to face off against the Lexington Minutemen at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Prairie Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Prairie Central will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Paxton-Buckley-Loda on Monday. The Hawks blew past the Panthers 12-1. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Dixie Hogan spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sam Slagel was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Kate Slagel was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Prairie Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 5-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Lexington suffered their closest loss since March 27, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Tri-Valley by a score of 15-13. The Minutemen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lexington's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Prairie Central, their record now sits at 12-13.

Prairie Central couldn't quite get it done against Lexington in their previous meeting on April 12th as they fell 7-4. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
