Ridgedale extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 4-10. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Elgin Comets. The Rockets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.
Kiley Slone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Jillian Slaughterbeck was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Adyson Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
As for Elgin, their win bumped their record up to 6-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 9th.
On Elgin's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Madison Hill gave up three earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, Gracelyn Edmonstone and Hayleigh Lowther did most of the damage at the plate: Edmonstone went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Lowther went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that Edmonstone has hit this season.
Ridgedale has already played their next game, a 5-4 defeat against Ridgemont on the 7th. As for Elgin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 16-1 loss against Northmor on the 8th.
