Volleyball Recap: Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers vs. Covenant Day Lions
Legion Collegiate Academy is ranked highly in their home state and on Tuesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Covenant Day. The Lancers came up short against the Lions, falling 3-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Lancers were not able to get on the board.
Legion Collegiate Academy was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Covenant Day work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 26-24, 25-18.
Covenant Day found their leader in sophomore Ben Keefer, who had 38 assists and nine digs. Keefer has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last 15 times he's played.
Having lost for the first time this season, Legion Collegiate Academy fell to 5-1. As for Covenant Day, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Legion Collegiate Academy and Marvin Ridge will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Covenant Day, they will challenge Metrolina Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
