Baseball Recap: Wenonah Comes Up Short

Wenonah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Pleasant Grove Spartans, falling 21-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dragons of the 20-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Wenonah saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Javian Cotton, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Cotton's first of the season.

Even though they lost, Wenonah hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

Wenonah's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Pleasant Grove, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wenonah will host Parker at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Pleasant Grove, they will square off against McAdory at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Pleasant Grove is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
