Basketball Recap: Nilah Thornton Key Part of a Team Effort in Trojans Win

Trinity won the last time they faced Lutheran West and things went their way on Tuesday too. Everything went the Trinity Trojans' way against the Lutheran West Longhorns as the Trinity Trojans made off with a 59-38 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Trinity got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nilah Thornton out in front who went 7 of 12 on her way to 17 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Thornton a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaynia Campbell, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 15 points.

Trinity now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lutheran West, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-4.

Trinity will square off against Brooklyn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Trinity is facing Brooklyn at the right time seeing as Brooklyn is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lutheran West, they will face off against Tuslaw at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. Tuslaw will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Lutheran West surely won't give up without a fight.
