Softball Recap: Valley View Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Valley View took an eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Murrieta Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles skirted past the Nighthawks 4-3. The Eagles' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Ato Laumatia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Laumatia was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Valley View let Jessica Shackleford and Miranda Maese run wild. Shackleford went 1-for-2 with one home run, while Maese went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Valley View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters every time they've taken the field this season.

Valley View's record now sits at 3-0. As for Murrieta Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Valley View wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-1 win against Paloma Valley on the 21st. As for Murrieta Valley, they have also already played their next matchup, an 11-5 defeat against Corona on the 21st.
