Softball Recap: Wilder Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Wilder faced off against West Jefferson on Wednesday. The Wilder Wildcats fell just short of the West Jefferson Panthers by a score of 33-32. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (11), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

M. Longest led a balanced group of hitters, scoring six runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was A. Scott, who went 5-for-6 with four runs and four RBI.

Wilder now has a losing record of 1-2. As for West Jefferson, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Wilder will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Rimrock at 4:00 p.m. on March 31st. One thing working in Wilder's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. West Jefferson will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against New Plymouth at 11:00 a.m. on April 5th.
