Baseball Recap: Bedford Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Bedford proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Chestnut Ridge Lions 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Bisons in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.

Gabe Taylor looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bedford is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Quincy Swaim and Owen Tedrow did most of the damage at the plate: Swaim scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances, while Tedrow scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Owen Taylor, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Bedford's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.56 runs across that stretch. As for Chestnut Ridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Coming up, Bedford will take on Penn Cambria at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chestnut Ridge, they will host Huntingdon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
