Basketball Recap: Malik Washington's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Antelope Valley over Quartz Hill

Antelope Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Quartz Hill Royals, falling 66-40. While losing is never fun, the Antelopes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1086th, while the Royals are ranked 303rd).

Several Antelopes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malik Washington, who posted seven points. Gavin Houston was another key player, putting up nine points.

Leading Quartz Hill to victory were Ty?Jahwuan Jackson and Jeremiah Williams. Jackson dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 boards, while Williams earned 14 points in addition to eight steals and seven rebounds. Jackson is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Julian Henriquez, who scored 14 points.

Antelope Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-19. As for Quartz Hill, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-8.

Antelope Valley has already played their next contest (against Lancaster), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Quartz Hill has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Littlerock.
