Basketball Recap: Cayuga Comes Up Short

Cayuga played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Martins Mill Mustangs and fell 84-39. The Wildcats have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Martins Mill's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Archer Schneider, who went 9 for 14 en route to 32 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Schneider has posted since back in February of 2024. Jak Kinder was another key player, going 8 of 15 on his way to 23 points along with six assists and five boards.

Cayuga's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Martins Mill, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-1.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Cayuga Wildcats challenge the Fruitvale Bobcats at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Martins Mill has already played their next game (against LaPoynor), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
