Football Recap: Southeast Career Tech Beats Coronado for Their Fifth Straight Win

Coronado came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Southeast Career Tech, but Leyla Randolph wouldn't allow it. The Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners came out on top against the Coronado Cougars by a score of 21-14 on Friday thanks in part to Randolph, who threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 46 yards and one touchdown. She didn't just play on offense: she also made six total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Southeast Career Tech's defense and their three sacks. Leah McClain was especially locked on to Coronado's QB and sacked her twice.

The win (which was Southeast Career Tech's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.6 points per game. As for Coronado, they moved to 4-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Southeast Career Tech will venture away from home to face off against Boulder City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both have allowed few points on average, (Boulder City: 11.6, Southeast Career Tech: 8.6) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Coronado, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pinecrest Academy Cadence at 10:00 a.m. on January 2, 2025. Coronado's defense has only allowed 11.2 points per game this season, so Pinecrest Academy Cadence's offense will have their work cut out for them.
