Softball Game Preview: Julian Eagles vs. Guajome Park Academy Frogs

The Julian Eagles will square off against the Guajome Park Academy Frogs at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Julian knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Guajome Park Academy likes a good challenge.

Julian came up short against Vincent Memorial on Wednesday, falling 18-11.

Avalina Magante-Ortiz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Charlee Sparks was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Guajome Park Academy was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They lost 25-2 to Maranatha Christian. The Frogs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Guajome Park Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Franco, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Julian's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Guajome Park Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Guajome Park Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Julian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Guajome Park Academy, though, as they've been averaging 10.9 hits. Given Julian's sizable advantage in that area, the Frogs will need to find a way to close that gap.
