Volleyball Recap: Sumner Finds Home Court Redemption Against Freedom

There's no place like home for Sumner, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against the Freedom Patriots by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The Stingrays have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 17-25, 25-18, 25-14.

Sumner had a senior duo take command as Victoria Benitez had 12 digs and four aces and Alana Mitchell had 21 digs and three aces. Mitchell is crushing it when it comes to aces: she's served at least three every time she's taken the court this season.

Sumner now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Freedom, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

After both having extra time off, Sumner and Hillsborough will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Freedom has already played their next match (against Robinson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
