Softball Recap: Thomas Walker Pioneers vs. Castlewood Blue Devils
Thomas Walker extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 27 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They came up short against the Castlewood Blue Devils, falling 21-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-0 back in April.
As for Castlewood, their win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Castlewood's part, J Phillips was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Phillips was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Anna Summers was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Emma Meadows also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Thomas Walker is set to square off against their familiar foe J.I. Burton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Castlewood will face off against rival Twin Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
