Volleyball Recap: Tough Loss for Beddingfield

The Beddingfield Bruins came up short against the Greene Central Rams on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Bruins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Beddingfield was held off the set scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 25-16, 25-22, 25-17.

Meghan LaRue paced Beddingfield's offense, picking up five kills. LaRue got some help from Kayla Rodriguez and her six assists. Finally, Heaven McIver kept Beddingfield's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

Beddingfield has now lost nine of their last 11 games on the road. That leaves them at a 6-9 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-0 Ayden - Grifton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 73.4% over those games). As for Greene Central, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Beddingfield will take on their in-conference opponent Farmville Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Greene Central is set to face off against their familiar foe Tarboro at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
