Baseball Game Preview: Bishop O'Dowd Dragons vs. Pinole Valley Spartans

The Bishop O'Dowd Dragons will challenge the Pinole Valley Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pinole Valley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bishop O'Dowd, who comes in off a win.

Bishop O'Dowd took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against El Cerrito, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Bishop O'Dowd had just enough and edged out El Cerrito 4-3.

Tucker Eddy looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Bishop O'Dowd's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dimitri Williams, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits Williams has posted since back in April of 2024. Lucas Partritee was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Pinole Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Encinal. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Pinole Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Bishop O'Dowd, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-2.
